Research Division

Government-funded research institutes are Research
working together to seek ways to protect the public from various disasters (e.g., earthquakes, fires, floods, etc.). The Multi Disaster Countermeasure Organization (MDCO) is a practical convergence research team supervised by the National Research Council of Science and Technology, along with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information, and the Korea Railroad Research Institute. MDCO develops technologies in the following four major areas : a disaster information collecting system, complex disaster analysis and prediction techniques, early response and rapid restoration technologies, and a comprehensive disaster response information platform. The ultimate goal of the MDCO is to disseminate these technologies, aiming to realize an integrated CPS. It also tries to minimize lives and damages in properties through the systematic management of disasters for skyscraper buildings.
