The KICT has formed research clusters that reflect its multidisciplinary structure. Each research cluster carries out important, integrative research activities, often involving multiple departments. These clusters are each a matrix of expert activity strategically coordinated to respond to changes affecting the world today and advance R&D with real merit and global applicability through government projects and KICT-branded projects aimed at social issue management and future response. Purpose

• As a government-subsidized research entity, the KICT, in accordance with the Overseas Construction Promotion Act and the Framework Act on International Development Cooperation, systematically promotes overseas construction projects; supports Korean entities for the acquisition of overseas construction contracts; and supports SMBs in international business. Through these efforts, the cluster works to stimulate both the national economy and the global construction industry.
• The International Partnerships Cluster systematically manages and operates official development assistance (ODA), project management consultancy (PMC), and capacity-building programs, and actively participates in international projects in emerging economies to improve project efficiency and promote project objectives.
• Using original, core technologies, the International Partnerships Cluster: establishes local test beds; provides legal and construction support; exports and substantiates technologies developed in consideration of local conditions; partners with SMBs for joint entry into the global market; performs project management consultations (PMC) for projects of various sizes; conducts feasibility studies for overseas construction projects; and engages in capacity-building for local public officials.
• The cluster utilizes its global networks to collaborate with beneficiary countries, multilateral development banks, export credit agencies, and international organizations. It plans, executes, and substantiates projects through global joint research and consultations to ensure the stability and progress of global partnerships and to help emerging economies advance and overcome obstacles.
